Robo Raptors Goes to VEX Worlds 2020

2020 DC VEX Robotics Champions

After endless hours & months of practice, "living" at Howard University's Health Science Library, our robotics team won the 2020 DC Robotics Tournament and head to the VEX World Competition in Louisville, KY (April 22-25th, 2020).  Help us get there!

Our number one goal at DMV NSBE, Jr. is to provide early STEM exposure and every opportunity that will afford our members with a concrete blueprint by which they can confidently and successfully affect the trajectory of their lives through fun & engaging experiential science exploration all in an effort to change the face of STEM.

 

By donating to DMV NSBE, Jr., you will provide highly motivated students who love all things science with more opportunities to grow & become more proficient in math; experience year-round hands-on engineering; and the chance to realize their full potential & future in the STEM world.

What Does Your Donation Provide?

We thank those who have already donated to DMV NSBE, Jr.  and encourage you to review the information in this section to see how your gift will help us reach our future goals. 


  • Sponsor: $10,000 and up (100 Students participation in the 3-Day Fall Regional Convention
  • Partner II: $7,000 (Howard University Mentor (10) participation at NSBE Nationals (Hotel, Transportation & Registration)
  • Partner I : $5,000-$7,000 (Transportation to college tours & field experiences)
  • Donor II: $2,500 and up (Robots, wind turbine materials, math resources, and hands-on learning manipulatives for engineering challenges & workshops)
  • Donor I: $2,000 (Robotics Tournament & Mini College Fair hosted by DMV NSBE, Jr & Howard University NSBE) 
  • Supporter: $1,500 and up (Supports literacy program for 50 students; intensive college preparatory essay writing Boot Camp for 30 high school students) 
  • Angel: $1,000 (End of Year Chapter BBQ & Awards Ceremony)
  • Angel: $500 and up (Competition Uniforms & SAT Prep Workshop for 7th-12th Graders)
  • Friend: $350 and up (Partial scholarships for 2 student membership fees)
  • Patron: $100 and up (Awards, gift cards, and other incentives)

 With Your Support DMV NSBE, Jr. Can:

  1. Create year-round STEM engagement for K-12 students underrepresented in engineering and other STEM fields.
  2. Increase STEM interest for African-American children, especially girls.
  3. Provide high quality & rigorous programming that will nurture the skills needed for academic excellence in high school in preparation for college engineering programs.
  4. Support our High School members with college-prep tutoring, mentoring and scholarships.
